Intricate Designs in a RockA bit of lichen complements some striking rock layers in a boulder alongside the trail in Rocky Mountain National Park
While you may be used to paying attention to the trees or the mountains when you are walking along a trail, it doesn't hurt to check out the rocks as well. This striking example of stony textures was on one of the boulders alongside the Sky Pond trail. Each of the stripes tells a story about how this particular rock came to be - almost like it's a history book for nature. The lichen adds a small splash of green to the blacks, whites, and golden inclusions.
